The Dangers of Belly Fat

Fat gathers in certain body regions like the stomach and the hips. If you have stored fat in your hips, you might have trouble walking, but if you have fat stored in your stomach, you might end up facing various ailments. This is because storing a lot of fat can induce insulin resistance, which can, in turn, increase the risk of hypertension and diabetes. This just goes to show that the dangers of belly fat should definitely be kept an eye on.

Fat that focuses on abdominal wall regions and surrounds other interior organs is called belly fat. It is extremely easy to get this kind of fat - one huge meal before bedtime in itself can bring about lots of belly fat and even thin people may suffer from it - and it also very difficult to eliminate. Plus, the dangers of belly fat are aplenty.

For one, storing a lot of belly fat can result in higher fat storage within the liver, which can reduce your body cells'a ability to respond to insulin and increase levels of blood sugar. Increased levels of blood sugar can also increase the risk for eye and heart diseases. Also, if these levels aren't controlled, it could lead to death.

People who have belly fat also have higher risk of getting colon cancer because accumulated fat can increase certain hormone levels that are important in cell growth and in cancer cell growth.

As mentioned earlier, getting rid of belly fat is very difficult and would requires lots of effort and commitment. It would mainly involve making certain changes in your exercise and diet. Consuming more calories than the body needs will result in fat storage. So, if you have a growing belly, consider lowering your intake of calories. To do this, try chewing slower so you can satiated easier and reduce your food intake that way. Make sure you consume lots of fiber, too, so you can reduce your appetite and curb your food intake and the dangers of belly fat at the same time.
