One reason why many of the college students I spoke to said it was a bad idea to cram for a test was because you end up burning yourself out. Three out of the five that I spoke to were so exhausted by the time their exam date came around they could not even think straight. Even though they all passed those who crammed for there test did a lot worse then they would have if they were not so tired. Another reason is that it can be very difficult to cram a years worth of information into your brain within a few weeks. Some people think that all that matters is a passing grade. However after spending the amount of money that many spend on college wouldn't it be better to give it all you have got? Unfortunately part of the problem is that most college students who don't have scholarships have their parents to pay for their college education and they don't have to work for it. Four out of the five college students that I spoke with had their college tuition paid for by their parents in addition to all of their necessities such as books, and supplies. The one who did not have her college tuition paid for by her parents said that she had to work hard for the money to cover all of her college expenses including tuition.
She said that she also made it a point to work harder in all her classes and avoided cramming to ensure that she did well. She stated that she took it very seriously because she was spending her hard earned money. Does this mean that those who have to pay their own way actually work harder? Not according to the other students who I interviewed. They agreed that there are a lot of dangers associated with cramming for a test in addition to being tired, such as scoring lower on the test. They don't feel that whether or not their parents pay their bills has anything to do with it. Obviously they agree that cramming does nothing for your grade, and that it is always better to give one hundred percent all the time, not just during exams or tests.
