For some people having this button for the electronic seat on the side of the seat is a great place to have it, especially because you have the lumbar support buttons located right next to it. But if you are like my self having the button where it is located is a bad idea.
I love my truck but I hate where the seat adjustment button is located due to the bad experience I had with the seat adjusting mechanism and the fact that you can adjust the seat whether the vehicle is on or off.
I know that not many people growing up heard somebody tell them watch out son, watch out daughter you do not want to put your hand underneath that electric seat because you may get hurt. I know I never heard that growing up but the truth of the matter is, is that the seats can be dangerous and cause bodily injury to you. I know I had never heard of what happened to me happening to any body else even though I am sure it probably has at some time or another. I hope it never does since the way I injured myself.
My injury from my seat started out with me outside of the vehicle reaching underneath my seat attempting to get something that had fallen underneath it. I was not able to reach the item I was attempting to retrieve from the side of the seat by the center consul .as I was reaching underneath the seat my shoulder or some part of my body hit the button that then caused the seat to go on top of my hand. At that point in time it happened so quickly I did not know what happened. I just remember feeling my hand being stuck. I then attempted to pull my hand out from underneath the seat but was unsuccessful.
I then attempted to lift the seat up off of my hand with the seat adjust button but was also unsuccessful. I never realized or even thought about the fact that the same button that adjust my seat back and forth also adjust the tilt and everything else a seat can do. So as I panicked and began trying to push the seat up the seat just kept lowering.
In the end I ended up with several cuts on my hand and I had also crushed my hand causing a puncture wound on the bottom and on the top. Several x-rays later it was found that I did not mess up any tendons, or break any bones. I still sometime get a sharp pain in my finger and left hand from my crush injury.
So if you have a Ford Explorer Sport Trac or any other vehicle with electronic seats then use caution when sticking your hands underneath the seats to clean. Also make sure that your children are not playing on your seats in your vehicle unattended due to the fact their hand or worse their head or any other part of their body can get stuck underneath the seat and can cause a lot more injury to them due to the fact they will not know what to do to get the seat off of them and may panic so badly and not even think of what to do.
The dangerous of electronic seats have been unknown to many and I hope that the way you learn about the dangerous is from this article and not having to go through the pain that I did.
