For one, the Nanjiao Track astonishingly did very poorly for the elliptical trainer ratings. You would be surprised because they used to perform fairly consistently and are trusted by many professional trainers worldwide. Yet, at the recently 2007 ratings, they only scored an average of 2 out of 5-that is, not even a pass! Upon further investigation, it was found that they did poorly because they focused on the wrong thing. They hyped up on their features but the quality of the products could not match the hype. Many ended up purchasing these machines because of the hype and the cost. The Nanjiao Track machine prices were surprisingly competitive, but unfortunately the products themselves gave customers many headaches. Thus, it is inevitable that it received such a low rating. The company could have added more durable materials in the machines rather than increasing the features provided because most customers do not need so many features anyway! Thus, the machine wears itself out pretty quickly. If you like the many functions that it comes with, do buy it, but be prepared to fork out more on frequent servicing.
With Proforma's high pricing range, you would expect it to be a reasonable performer. But no, it doesn't give its customers a run for their money. They received only a mere two stars out of five too and their quality is absolutely dismal. Their warranties are short, lasting only 90 days compared to others' of 2-3 years. The short warranties could be an indication of its low quality and could be one of the reasons why it was rated so poorly. However, it does have some good qualities like the low noise level. Unfortunately its disadvantages outweigh the advantages-the machine cannot support large persons and it is rather unstable. Hence, most customers are rather dissatisfied with it. If you must buy a Proforma, do buy the highest ranges for these last much longer than the lower priced models. If you do not have that much to spare, forget about the branding because other less well known brands can give you better worth for your money.
Horizontal Tetek, while popular, has unfortunately landed in the same category as Nanjiao Track. These machines are not built for tall people at all as the stride lengths are so short that they almost seem to be meant for children to use. A tall person must thus use unnatural strides and stoop himself to use this machine. This is unhelpful and will cause posture problems, amongst other things. Not only does the machine proves itself unhelpful, the pricing range is also exorbitant. You could use your money elsewhere and it would have better returns than if you were to purchase this machine. However, if you like this brand and are petite, you may consider it because it is rather aesthetically pleasing to the eye. To be on the safe side, do give the machine a run before you commit.
If you take heed of these professional ratings and avoid the machines above mentioned, you can be sure that your machine will not disappoint you too much. These machines are poorly rated because of professional reasons, and you would do well do avoid disappointing yourself and throwing good money away. However, do note that only these models are unreliable, other models could be worth looking at, so do take things with a pinch of salt.
