Hide and Seek is a game we probably all played back in our day, and never in my life was it ever scary or dangerous. Given how the world is today, this little news story really adds to the dimension of fear for the parents of 2 year old Natalie Jasmer.
It is a typical day with kids playing their typical games, when two year old Natalie Jasmer runs off to play hide and seek with the other kids. No one thought there were dangers of Hide and Seek, but there was a twist to this story though, Natalie hid so well that none of the kids could find her. After the family and friends did an extensive search of the neighborhood and Natalie was no where to be found, they finally called the police which brought in fire and rescue to help in the search for their missing two year old daughter.
I know, as a parent myself, and hearing all the horror stories of missing and kidnapped children, the parents must have been terrified and filled with horrified images of what may have happened to little Natalie. Fortunately this time the story takes a funny, and very relieving twist when the family dog finds little Natalie who was simply sleeping in a drawer in the Jasmers Living Room. I find it tough to imagine the emotions my wife and I would go through to a story end like this one, somewhere between anger and relief.
If only more missing child reports could have such a refreshing end, but when your children play, remember the dangers of Hide and Seek and warn your children not to play Hide and Sleep.

Post a CommentWow, scary stuff. I have a two year old. I had something similiar happen, well, without the police and fire rescue. All my kids were playing upstairs. My older two had come downstairs. After about 30 mins to an hours, I noticed that my youngest was nowhere to be found. I had originally thought my youngest was with my other two. Well, I knew she hadn't left the house. We searched closets, bathrooms, cabinets, under beds. Finally, upon searching the playroom again, we found her sound asleep on the couch which, as you walk up the stairs, the back of it faces to you. I guess it didn't occur to me to look there since I'd called her name several times. I guess all's well that ends well.:-)
