The Dangers of Highly Sweetened Drinks: Help Your Waistline and Body with Water

Be mindful when buying drinks throughout the day. Our bodies are mainly made of water. Water is essential to keep our bodies operating efficiently. Many times we simply are trying to quench our thirst, and we reach for a wrong choice. Is it so easy to reach for the soda, coffee, or bottled fruit juices. Water, just doesn't seem exciting in a sea of flavored beverage choices. We should be drinking half our body weight in ounces of water per day. Are you guilty of not getting enough water?

Choices

Never before has man had so many drinking choices readily available. The conveince stores are filled with rows and rows of beverages. Everything from beer, wine coolers, to energy drinks, is prominently displayed in the refrigerated section. Many of the larger convenience stores have large beverage stations. These stations are complete with several machines, and additions to make your beverage just right.

Self-service beverage bars and drive-throughs

Icee's, smoothies, hot coffee, iced coffee, tea, milk based drinks, and sodas. If you do not bring drinks from home, you will most likely purchase something to drink during the day. The majority of people visits gas stations, and drive troughs to quench their thirst. It is a fact; that while you are getting gas, purchasing the local paper, or completing some shopping, thirst happens. Retailers are counting on you reaching for almost anything other than water.

The self service drink stations, and fountain drinks are always visible. Bottled water, on the other hand may not even be refrigerated. The water section may be very small, compared to the other bottled drinks. Bottled water, many times is priced more than sodas or fountain drinks.

The hidden dangers in what you are drinking

Several drinks filled with sugar or corn syrup a day can eventually have a negative effect on your health. Many fountain drinks may be sweetened with corn syrup or artificial sweeteners. There are no labels, with nutritional information on the fountains. Weight gain, can quickly creep up on you if you are not careful. To keep going at work, in our busy lives, it is common to have several drinks a day filled with sugar and high levels of caffeine.

Weight Gain

Mindlessly drinking whatever you want, without regards to the sugar, calorie or fat intake will lead to weight gain, or health issues. By being mindful about how many calories is your drinks, . Select water more often as your beverage of choice. You can prevent adding unwanted pounds, and loose a few pounds a month.
