The Dangers in Putting Fire Stickers on Your Child's Bedroom Window and Ribbons on Your Mailbox to Indicate You Just Had a Baby
Most of us remember when they first came out with the signs you could put on your child's window. This sign was to let firemen or police officers know that, that was a child's bedroom. Remember the fire sticker? Some parents liked this idea and started putting these stickers on their child's bedroom window. If you have a child abductor or child molester in your neighborhood, this allows them to know exactly where your child will be. Knowing when the lights are out in a home that the family all must be in bed. This makes it easy for the abductor to get to your child, knowing the window with the fire sticker on it, is your child's bedroom. This was actually a very good idea in case of a fire; your child would be safe first. You must weight the odds here from you having a fire in your home, to your child being abducted.
Another thing is having a newborn baby some mother's will put blue, yellow, or pink ribbons on their mailbox to indicate to others that they just had a newborn baby. This is the perfect sign for an abductor who may be in your area. Most people who abduct newborn babies look in the paper, hospitals, or other places where they can find a newborn to abduct. When these abductors see these ribbons on mailboxes it makes your home the perfect target.
There is no real way to stop these abductions from occurring or anyway to totally prevent them from happening. However, there are steps you can take to limit the chances of your child being abducted. One you may do is with the fire sticker. If your child's bedroom is right next to yours put the fire sticker on your window. This will get the firemen or police officers closer to your child. With the ribbons on the mailbox, just don't do it. When a woman has a newborn baby, chances are every family member and friends have already been notified. Therefore, there is no reason to advertise you have just had a newborn. Same thing with allowing it to be put in the newspaper, just don't advertise.
Another thing parents can do to protect their child or infant is to search for people who may be child molesters or child abductors. Do the search and make sure you don't have these predators in your neighborhood.
