The Dark Night of the Soul - a Poem About Curiosity

Kylyssa Shay

I am boiled by the rage to know
choosing ignorance as my foe.
Upon me is the dark night of the soul

that hides (and taunts me with) my goal.
The agony of things unknown
has festered in my brain...and grown.

The weeks and months of sleepless nights
and deepest thought

Have come to naught-
or so at least it seems.
I flirt upon the edge of dreams
and the answer itself uncovers!
Things that I know like lovers
that I myself became
have made this problem tame!

I'm addicted to this awesome force
that sweeps up all within its course
the overpowering, all-consuming ache
that tugs at all within its wake,
the yearning to know, a thirst to see
that wonderful torment - curiosity!

I like this. It's how I feel sometimes.
