The Darkened Path of Life

Sandra Hatfield
I am walking down a path.
The sun shrinks.
The shadows grow.
My heart beats faster.

I feel alone as the fear intensifies.
Then a soft voice out of nowhere calls my name.

Stumbling over rocks as I search for the mysterious voice,
I see no one around.
In panic i walk faster.
I hear the voice again but louder this time.

Panicking even more I walk faster, faster, and faster.
The path seems to go on forever.

Then a flash of light appears out of nowhere.
I shield my eyes from this bright light.
The voice appears again but as loud as thunder.
I look up to see a bright figure in all white, standing there looking down at me.

As I am able to focus more I see that it is The Lord Jesus Christ.
Then He says to me with reassuring voice,
"Don't be afraid I am the only one who can lighten the darkened path of life."

I blink and He is gone.
Not filling as afraid anymore I stand up and begin walking again.
Then the shadows shrink and the light grows.

Then my eyes open.
I realize that all of this was just an illusion or a vision.

Or was it?
As I analyze this, I begin to understand it more.
The vision was just a glimpse of what my life has been.
Always feeling lost, and alone on a dark path that seems to go on forever,

Then i remember what He said and i realize I'm really not alone.
He is the only way to lighten my darkened life.

I realized that the darkened path stands for pain and unhappiness,
And the light stands for love and piece.
Jesus is the only one who is the true light to the darkened path of life.
Amen!
