Libraries
Most people like those with a bit of intellect. Who in their right mind wants someone who can't read? Sure, the guy or girl could be there renting movies (since some libraries do act as a video rental store, too!) but chances are if they're in a library for an extended period of time there is an excellent chance that the potential 'date' is studying or into reading. This is an excellent place for meeting mr. or ms. right if you're one of those bookworms who adores reading classic literature - or any literature you can get your hands on. Of course, with anything this can have a downside. You don't want to go in solely to find a date, be there for another reason. Just don't ever use a library to pick up a person. They also might be busy with research or just plain not desire to be bothered. But should you get talking with someone then all the better. What's the worst that can happen? You walk away from the library with a new friend.
Established Coffee Houses
Coffee Houses are the 'it' places in some cities. But not just every coffee house, mind you. I'm talking about ones with excellent and repeat clientele. Now this isn't only a great way to meet someone, but also excellent for relaxing yourself from a busy day or meeting up with some friends for some out time. This can take a few weeks to progress through to finding a potential date, however, in the meantime you get excellent time out to just mingle with society. Take note of regulars and get to know some of them. They could be your best ally in finding you a potential date. When you're established in this coffee house as a regular then the employees might even go, "You see Susan? Got out of a bad relationship a few months ago." Be sure the person is known there though, because that way you can have some security in knowing you aren't about to hit on a complete unknown.
Plays
Have you seen some of the people who perform in local plays? Some of them are just breathtaking from a distance and knowing personally. Even signing up to be an extra or trying out for a part can be your "in" to getting to know some of these most attractive actors. It's a perfect situation, if you think about it. You spend hours rehearsing and get to have fun while doing it. Plus, you obviously get to know the others in the group very well. You could go in and audition, get a part and suddenly find yourself eye to eye with the most intriguing man of your life. Not only that, he's obviously smart if he can remember lines, cues and be convincing as this "other person" they're portraying. For those who are more artistically inclined, these are a definite plus to meeting a match.
School Open Houses
This one is for the single parents out there. Finding decent dates can be harder for those with children, but what better way to meet other single parents than Open House nights - or Parent-Teacher conferences? This one often happens unintentionally, but it does happen. So you're there meeting your child's teacher and another person comes over to meet the same teacher with their own child. You note no ring on their finger and they mention their ex couldn't make it for whatever reason. Yes, it seems far fetched, but don't rule it out. Finding a single parent at a meeting is inanely easy nowadays and there's definitely at least one thing you have in common with this other person. So you get to chatting with them, maybe even agree to meet up somewhere Maybe with kids or without, depending on the children being friends. This gives you a chance to get to knwo him or her better and see what develops from there. But never think, "no, it won't happen." because you just never know. At least you have one thing going: you know they most likely adore children.
While on occasion people can meet excellent matches in the most obscure places, what each of these situations have going for them is being out in public. Your safety is always the number one concern when going out to possibly meet someone. But keep your eyes open and never rule out anything. Your perfect match could also be the guy passing you buy on your next excursion to a local grocery store.
