The Dave Matthews Band Gift-Giver's Guide

As many of my friends and family know, I am a huge Dave Matthews Band fan. I love the music and the concert experiences, but I also like purchasing and/or receiving band memorabilia.

I find myself not only wanting to buy DMB's new music, but also concert t-shirts, posters, decals, etc., especially as I find new products. When people ask me what good ideas there are for gifts, I can't typically refer them to just one place. My hope is that you can use this gift guide to find many unique DMB products in one place, and decide what you'd like for yourself or someone else.

Please keep in mind that website content may change, and that I am likely (unintentionally) leaving some vendors out. Feel free to add additional comments or experiences you have had in the comments section.

When I asked fellow fans what website they used the most, many answered that they loved Tilly's Glass Works. Her merchandise includes stained glass, pottery, and several different types of jewelry. A fan favorite is the silver firedancer pendant, which is typically added to a silver chain. Tilly has other options, including the Dancing 8 and the BCTS rings, among several others. There is such a wide range of pendants included, and you would have no trouble finding preferred colors. Gifts are appropriate for men or women, and prices vary depending on what you would like to purchase. Many fans have commented on the quality of the items received, and I haven't read any negative comments regarding the items or order process. You may be able to find Tilly at a DMB show, but she will likely only travel with a limited selection. It is highly suggested that you order in advance for holiday items, as these are custom made and not mass-produced.

A personal favorite of mine is the LJMS art website. The LJMS series consists of original art "inspired by the music of Dave Matthews." You can purchase a number of paintings, posters, prints, and even special-occasion cards. The art on the website is beautiful and unique, and can be framed and displayed. Prices vary depending on the item and whether or not you are buying an original piece or print, but definitely make for a gift that would add to any DMB fan's collection.

Other websites that sell DMB posters from shows and various collectors include Dave Posters and EB Art (expressobeans), among many others. These websites include the concert posters produced by Methane Studios, and are excellent gifts for DMB fans that may not have had the chance to buy specific concert posters at shows they have attended. These posters can be framed as well, and are appropriate for both men and women as gifts. Each poster is priced differently, depending on the date of the show or event.

Other recommended jewelry websites include Rousseau pottery and Designs by Che. Rousseau pottery sells custom tile pieces designed to be worn as necklaces, which come in a variety of colors. Each tile is made by hand, and is certainly unique to each buyer. Contact Rousseau pottery here for prices. Designs by Che includes pendants made out of bone, and because a fan requested the Dancing 8, this pendant is now available. I had never seen anything like this until it was recommended to me when researching DMB gifts. The price is not displayed on the website, but it is available by contacting the seller directly.

Another popular website is Etsy, which includes handmade merchandise of all kinds by individual sellers. One seller's shop, Roadie Gear, includes jewelry, pendants, ornaments, and bags made from DMB concert t-shirts, which are unique to each buyer. The prices vary with each piece, but are very reasonable. Roadie Gear currently has a 100% satisfaction rating on Etsy, and I would certainly recommend purchasing items from this shop.

You can purchase additional merchandise from the official DMB Store, which includes calendars (a favorite of mine), t-shirts, water bottles, hats, bags, and other gifts. This is the typical store where items like these are purchased, and I have never had problems with orders I have placed. I would definitely recommend that orders be placed ahead of time during the holiday season to ensure that your items are shipped in time.

Again, the guide does not include each and every DMB merchandise website, but does include different types of vendors to purchase unique gifts from. I hope that it is useful, and can help you determine what gifts to buy. The only problem you'll likely have is deciding on only one item to purchase.
