The Day that Never Was

Walton S. Tissot
What time was then that never was again,
Tempered and toned time restrained
By decree to record and count alls been
Since the virgin birth dated and contained
Every year that is divisible
By the four must leap to stay unstrained
Absolutely relative to the stance
Where one stands or lays one's head to take sleep
Or follow the moon's course and stars at chance
Passage of the time; the ages do creep
The Gregorian arithmetical
For time in the vacuum one can not keep

Do like the sailors did... follow the stars. Great work.

Wouldn't it be so pleasant if we could stop measuring time and just live?

A beautiful reminder that man interprets reality through his conceptions.

Isn't it interesting that man is the only creature that must measure the day anyway?

Unique idea for a poem! I heard recently that early in the Middle Ages a lot of people didn't even know what year they were in - literally!
