The dieting plan makes use of new ideas in dieting which "turn off" the fat storing gene in your body by having you follow a special diet for 6 days of the week. This plan includes a "green light" food list which you are allowed to eat from all you want (you can always eat until satisfied.) You follow this special "6 day plan" Sunday through Friday and then take a "day off" every Saturday. You can actually change your day off day to be whatever you please, but most choose Saturday because that fits well into the schedules of most people.
What is the purpose of the "day off"? It's actually included in the diet for multiple reasons. For one it works in conjunction with the special 6 day dieting plan to help boost your metabolism and get you losing weight faster. This is also very helpful for keeping the weight off once you've lost it. Another very important reason it is included is to help you deal with the cravings that you inevitably have. Instead of pretending like you don't have any cravings like other less realistic diets, the Day Off Diet actually includes those cravings into the framework of the diet.
By allowing you to eat whatever you want every Saturday you can "exercise the demons" so to speak. On other diets where you can never eat a bowl of ice cream you end up eventually going off the diet because you crave the bowl of ice cream so bad. You then go off the diet for good because you feel like such a failure! But on the Day Off Diet you just have to wait until Saturday to feed your cravings. This is good in that it teaches you good eating habits 6 days a week but still allows you to "live a little" on the weekend!
Which brings me to one of the coolest things about this diet: by allowing the weekly day off you are allowed to continue living your social life even while you are dieting and losing weight fast. For example you can still eat the cake at a wedding or a birthday party! These sorts of events almost always fall on a Saturday anyway. And even if it's a Holiday that doesn't necessarily fall on a Saturday (like Christmas for example) you can actually adjust your "day off" for that week as long as you get back on schedule the next week! It will not harm your weight loss at all. It is a flexible approach that works well for real people, not just on paper.
I do highly recommend The Day Off Diet. I've been on it now for one month and I have lost 12 pounds of fat. I've also been following the special free bonus muscle building program and I've seen a large increase in muscle and strength in a very short period of time. In fact I think the ideas included in this option bonus guide almost as useful as those in the diet itself. For those of you who are interested in gaining more muscle like I am, it's an incredible bonus. It's not necessary though and I'm sure many women will ignore it. It is definitely not required for success with the program, it's only included as a bonus for people who want to build muscle.
