The Death of a Flower

Shirley A Mandel
There was a little yellow flower
growing by the roadway.
And it sent out a wonderful fragrance
to everyone who passed by,
cheering the hearts
of melancoly men
and grieving women.

But then one tragic day,
when the hosts of hell
were gathering against
the sons and daughters of God,
they came marching, marching
down the dusty road
with their golden shields
and their big black
combat boots
and stepped upon
this tender plant,
this green vine,
this little yellow flower
and it died.

It was the death of a Flower.

It was Good Friday.

It was Jesus.

But then a holy wind
whipped up a lovely scent
from the little grave
so now His fragrance
still lingers by the wayside,
cheering the hearts
of melancoly men
and grieving women.

He still lives.

I love the thought of the lovely flower that bloomed and died when He did, and then rose again, as He did. This poem takes us to the scene, and that is its brilliance. Thank you Shirley, and bless you always!

This is very interesting poem. It's a shame that some people don't believe in our Lord, the sacrificial
Lamb. I am glad your mission is to spread the true word to those who believe and those who might not believe in the truth. This poem should wake people up to the beauty of the LORD.
