It was a first half dominated by county and they took the lead through a Rob Hulse header from a badly defended corner. The performance was so poor that the team was booed off at half time.
The second half was a big improvement and started so well for Norwich. New boy Leroy Lita got clear and for some reason the goalkeeper decided to kick him square on the face, when he looked certain to score. A penalty was awarded and the goalkeeper was sent off. Derby took off an outfield player to bring on the sub keeper.
Then Norwich had a little spell for five or ten minutes, when they might have got the second goal. Most notably a beautiful cross from Lee Croft needed a great touch from the county keeper to take the ball off the head of Leroy Lita.
Norwich never really kicked on and ended up slowing the game down too much, which made it easier for Derby.
Disaster struck as Norwich keeper David Marshall came rushing out and allowed Derby's Nathan Ellington to net the winner. The result saw Norwich drop to 21st place and the problems continue. The final score was Norwich 1 Derby 2.
The question is how can Norwich improve? Well it's hard to say, but they have to play quicker and really stretch teams. Too many times Norwich was in good positions, but put in a poor cross or refused to shoot.
Another problem is the loan players. Simply, there are way too many. From what I have seen there are four good ones Bertrand, Lita, Lupoli and Kennedy. The rest are fairly pointless.
It's a shame, but it appears Norwich must get a big investor to challenge at the top end. Until that happens, my biggest advice to Roeder would be to find out what your strongest team is and give them a few games to prove itself.
