An America where opportunities abound and people were actually happy. The America where family values meant something and people did not have to work two jobs to make ends meet. An America where children knew who their parents were and mom and dad did not have to both work at dead end go nowhere jobs to still struggle to pay the bills.
The American middle class has thrived for the past two centuries, with the exception of the great depression, but lately I have seen America being systematically destroyed. The focus on the "war on terror" should not be Iraq, Iran or any other far away land, but on America itself.
We have become a nation that exports jobs that normally were performed by middle class Americans and our largest import has become unskilled and illegal immigrants. The system is not working as evidenced by our once powerful and might nation has become riddled with rampant poverty, crime, illiteracy, and disease that cannot be treated because the bulk of our America cannot afford health care or insurance.
In less than eight years President George W. Bush has turned what was once the land of opportunity, into a quagmire of unemployment, homelessness and out of control consumer debt. His latest slap in the face of America is his ordering of former White House counsel Harriet Miers to defy a congressional subpoena and refuse to testify before a House panel investigating the firing of several U.S. attorneys.
This follows his commutation of Lewis "Scooter" Libby's jail sentence and Vice President Dick Cheney's claim that his office, the office of the Vice President, is not an executive branch of government. Not to mention any of the bumbling-stumble foot job he has done in Iraq, a war to this day no one really knows why we are there, invading a country. Some speculate oil as being the reason while others say that he just wanted to finish what his daddy started. Still others, as out of touch with reality as Bush himself, think that Iraq had anything to do with September 11.
His entire term as President has produced nothing but one botched job after another, weakening what was once a respected nation in the global community. Our America has been turned into the largest borrowing nation in world history, although a few short years ago we were considered the largest creditor nation. He has turned Iraq into a breeding ground for terrorists simply by our illegal occupation.
Bush has showed nothing but contempt for the feelings of American citizens and his base of support is shrinking rapidly. Desperate Republican's seeking re-election are jumping ship and flip flopping their views on Iraq and his recent granting of executive privilege to several former aids, defying congressional demands for documents and testimony in the U.S. attorney firing case. It is a blatant and deliberate slap in the face of every American citizen.
The decline of America is an emotional one, where whining seems to be the new American battle cry. People have come to blame other countries, like China and India for middle class job loss. The blame for this should not be on other countries but upon the American citizenship itself. They have fallen for and have elected George Bush on not one but two occasions. They have elected the likes of George senior and Ronald Regan as their leaders. No one is more to blame than the American public themselves. They have failed miserably at the place where their voice could matter most - the election booth.
Throughout Bush junior's entire reign as president of the once respected United States, his administration has been subject to deceit, lies, contempt for the citizens and abuse of power on many issues.
He will no doubt go down in history as the absolute worse President in American history.

Post a CommentIn California, this month was reported that an additional 4500 people have lost there homes. All we hear on the news channels is the baseball steroid story. Do you know or does the country care? about the people that are living in the mountains, out in the cold because the loan co's, banks, etc are greedy...More, that the feds have lowered the interest rate and if you go to the banks there higher than they were previously.
Go to Thailand and see that the biggest and the best, I mean the best hospital has been funded by the U.S. and, the airport there puts our LAX to shame. We are the 3rd world country now. And, just wait until the baby boomers dont get there social security because the funds have been realocated to ? The people might stop being led by what the media wants us to hear and use some common sense thinking. Example: first we hear all about the Bird Flu epedemic. Suddenly a vaccine appears. It is expensive, because the FDA only approves the one offered by Hoffman-La Roche who claims the ingredients to make it are terribly costly. Medicare, perhaps foots the bill for this costly preventive medicine that the media tells us we best get. And guess what, it seems there are alternative Bird Flu vaccines made at 1/4 of the cost. Hopefully we have another election and can vote for a person who intends to end the corrupt practices.
People were only too willing to agree to programs such as unemployment insurance and Social Security in return for a safety net. Shock and awe is a great way to contol a people. Or it could simply be those in charge were simply doing what they thought right at any given point in history. 'Tis said "If the people will lead the leaders will follow", so perhaps it is time for US citizens to work together as a people to create new jobs, to stop supporting the rich with our purchases.
Actually there was a bit of election fraud going on in both elections. I think we can go back in time to when people agreed to pay a temporary income tax to pay off WW II. How the US citizens managed to keep paying it after that, becoming voluntary income tax payers I do not know. For all I know the corruption in government started with Prescott Bush and that group of world bankers I hear about. Is it possible the banking crash was contrived to create the Great Depression?
