The Degradation of Society

I belong to the Young Republican Club and we get into some pretty interesting discussions. But what disturbs me is the recent scandals of the Governors of New York. Which harken back to the McGreevy Scandal. Why is it that the only thing separating Patterson from Spitzer's fate is that he has friends. And are we supposed to expect this kind of unacceptable behavior from our leader? I for one didn't vote for McGreevy, but I think he betrayed the trust of the public.

It doesn't seem fair to me that our leaders in powerful positions have flings and abuse their position. And meanwhile, I have to hear about people's sexploits and I just want to do a good job at work. If someone wanted to talk about their relationship, that's one thing. But one of my bosses just had flings. And this one self proclaimed swinger kept coming on to me.

I don't know about you. But I'm sick of hearing about sleazy sex. Its not titillating. Its immature and distasteful. And it reminds me of middle school. I seriously think some people haven't grown up since preschool. That's about the time when fart jokes seem funny.

Really, someone made a comment that the favorite position in politics is the missionary position. Which doesn't seem that far from the truth. Why is it that we want the next Reagan, when no one wants to live up to those high standards. America has definitely become more distasteful, rude, crude and debased.

I find it unlikely, that as long as our culture accepts this unholy behavior, we will never see another Reagan. It may be that he was a great conservative and a fiscally responsible person, but he also had morals and a sense of honor. I think the more we lose of that in our society, the more we lose out.

While I believe in separation of church and state, I think our pursuit of happiness entails having faith in God and letting him be our moral guide. My liberal brother once said that waiting till marriage is moot because of birth control. Yet how many women end up in rocky relationships because there is no commitment. I think birth control has done a great disservice to society and there are more out of wedlock births and abortions because of the breakdown of basic principles of God. A child needs a loving home. Not designer clothes. Yet no one has done more to destroy loving homes than the liberals and their "free love" propaganda.
