Last quarter GDP rose 1.9%. The quarter before that GDP growth was .9%. Consider that to have a "recession" the nation MUST experience two successive quarters of negative growth. As this is clearly not the case, what's up Dems? Amazing statistic in light of the Democrat talking points when the reality is if the nation finishes off 2008 with equal growth of the first two quarters we will experience 5.6% GDP growth for the whole year. That's pretty nice stable growth. Not too much so as to spark inflation - instead this number is excellent GDP growth. And when we consider the spikes in fuel and food prices, this is an awesome statistic. But keep up the "we're in a recession!" talking points Dems. At least y'all are consistent. All doom and gloom, all the time, unless of course, the President and the Congress are Dem controlled. Why then it's all butterflies and unicorns, ain't it?
Unemployment is around 5%, at what has always been considered full employment, even during the Clinton Admin., so why the "all these poor unemployed?" I am beginning to wonder if Democrats don't know the truth, are unaware of the economic realities, or just lying to win the upcoming election.
So, are there any more glaring instances of Democrat politicians or their mouthpieces, and their enablers the mainstream media, presenting a factually challenged face to the nation? You betcha there are - bunches of 'em.
Let's try this one: " We can't drill our way out of this!" What a load of crap. Listen up America, especially you Obamaniacs. There are 88 Billion barrels of oil on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). There are 18 Billion barrels in the ANWR in Alaska. And when one adds the oil shale in the western states, our total oil as yet untapped totals MORE THAN THREE TIMES the proven oil reserves of Saudi Arabia! That's the damned truth. Get over it!
As the US presently imports 14 Million barrels of oil each day, let's do some math here. When we add 18 Billion barrels in ANWR and 88 Billion barrels in the OCS we come to a grand total of 106 Billion barrels of oil that belongs to the USA. So if we divide the total number of barrels of oil (106 Billion) by the number (14 Million) we import each day, what do we find? According to my math we have enough oil to eliminate ALL imported oil for 7571 days. That's 20.7 years worth of oil we could have WITHOUT IMPORTING ONE SINGLE DROP!!!!!!! And that's NOT including the massive amount of oil shale in the western US.
Now before any of you doubters say my math is flawed one must remember the other 6 Million barrels we use per day, for a total of 20 Million barrels per day, we already get from our domestic production. How many are surprised by these FACTS? And when we add in the oil shale we have enough domestic oil to be TOTALLY INDEPENDENT FROM IMPORTED OIL for 8 to 10 decades. Now's the time to be asking your Democrat politician "Why aren't we using our own oil?"
Anymore clearly undeniable examples of Democrats playing fast and loose with the facts? Oh yeah . . . .
Didn't Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, state at the start of the surge "This war is lost?" Why, I believe he did. And he repeated the same type sentiments throughout the surge, even up to and after General Petraeus testified twice before Congress as to the surge's success.
But the salient point to this article is why are the Democrats, their mouthpieces and their friends in the mainstream media, not telling these facts to the nation? I have come to two distinct, yet closely related reasons for their lack of honesty.
The first reason as to why Speaker Pelosi will not allow a vote on lifting the Congressional ban on the OCS is simple. The nation, in the most recent polls on this topic reveals that at least 75% of America's citizens want domestic drilling NOW, but Pelosi won't allow a vote in the House because the Democrats in the House will have to anger Pelosi and vote yes on lifting the ban, or to appease the Queen Bee they vote no on opening the OCS, but if they do they have to answer to their constituents in November. And remember, House members are up for re-election every two years, so what happens to the Democrat representative who votes no and then has to justify to his/her constituents $4.00 a gallon gas? That's right!
The other distinct Democrat reason for not allowing a vote on the OCS is because if they do open the OCS oil prices will plummet. In the two weeks since GWB lifted the Executive OCS ban oil has fallen $25.00 per barrel, from a high of $147.00 to $121.00 per barrel. Have y'all noticed gas at the pump is falling drastically? Here in Richmond regular unleaded is about $3.60 a gallon. That's about a 12% decline in 2 weeks AT THE PUMP!
But to hear a Lefty tell it Bush's lifting the OCS ban is pointless and will have absolutely no effect. Hello? Are you smart cats paying any attention to the news? Guess not, huh, or if they are, they don't get the connection. I even had a CP here tell me the drop in oil barrel prices were due to "Bush adopting Obama's plans." (I paraphrased) I nearly busted my butt laughing when I fell outta my chair!
Now, if oil prices were to really plummet, as would happen the day Congress lifts the OCS ban, what would that mean for the party that is convinced they are due for a clean sweep in November? That's right Friends - they would have nothing to demonize Republicans about, and as the Left is devoid of meritorious concepts for future governance, they would have nothing! Zero! Zip! Nada! Bupkiss! And therein lies the truth. But don't take my word for it. Do 5 minutes of Internet research for yourself and you will see I am presenting 100% fact.
In closing I am going to repeat something I wrote in a previous article of mine titled "The Revolutionary's Catechism." In said article I pointed out the teachings the Revolutionary's Catechism offered to the Bolsheviks who used it as a "how to" primer for overthrowing the monarchy in Russia and establishing that paragon of virtue, the USSR.
One of the most important tools in the revolutionary's tool kit was the admonition "Our task is terrible; universal destruction. To carry out the work of destroying the system . . . He must aggravate the miseries of the common people, so as to exhaust their patience and incite them to rebel." Did y'all catch that last part? "He must aggravate the miseries of the common people, so as to exhaust their patience and incite them to rebel." That IS the salient point.
Why else would Dems stall drilling our own oil? Simple. To exacerbate the misery of the nation and make and keep the populace angry and to exhaust their patience for the present political leadership. That's it. Nothing more; nothing less. And this Democrat gambit is being undertaken so that the electorate will elect Democrats to fix the nation.
The reality is that if the Democrats would not impede our nation's economy, and especially acquiring our own oil, as they are bereft of substantive issues, they would loose in their bid in November to capture the Presidency and a greater majority in Congress. I hope my nation is not that gullible.

Post a CommentActually, we already have a blowhard for president, and look where that's got us!
I agree. I was a Dem for MANY years, until I saw the light! As a matter of fact, I was a third generation Democrat, coming from a long line of working men. We see now, however, the workers are largely marginalized by them, (of course, until election time) in favor of extremist groups who wish to further their agendas by taking hard-earned money from the working man. Radicalism will soon be the death of BOTH parties, if they're not cleaned up.
Pillow, you're correct in that since 1980, in those 28 years all but 8 were under a Republican president, but in fairness, only from 1994 until 2006, 12 years, were the Republicans the majority in the House, and after all, the House controls the money thru the Ways & Means Committee, which has, by definition been controlled by the party in the majority, and since that has usually been a Dem, I think there is plenty of room for the Left to accept their share of the responsibility. Since the Lewinsky incident and my peeps insanity over getting Clinton, and then we add in the contested 200 election, and the ingredients for a vile hatred and intransigence mix has been overflowing the US political world. The left/right debate has become more rancorous and heated than in the Watergate period. It's like the left and right are more about getting each other than they are about America first, and that does our union no good at all. Thanks for your fair comment. I appreciate it.
I enjoyed this. I agree that the Democrats are being ridiculous, but I also think its ridiculous that we've had Republican leadership for a good part of the last 30 years and we aren't building as many new roads, or updating our infrastructure as much as we should be.
That said, both parties are ridiculously slow and I've almost completely lost faith in the process in this country.
You're right Tyler. The Democrat Party was a noble entity. They WERE the party of everyman, and historically, pre-Reagan, the Republicans were the blue bloods, silver spoon in the mouth crowd. It was only the rise of radical Leftism that so crippled the Dems, and gave rise to the neo-cons and the present Republican/Conservative movement. As you Tyler are an honest observer, do you see the correlation between the late 60's rise of radicalism from the Left and that of today? As long as the Democrat Party includes the radical leftists as a major part of the Dem platform, the Democrat Party will suck hind tit. And that's great for me. I love that the Dems nominated Obama. You watch what happens in November. No matter how good Kerry looked leading to the election, this nation would not elect an uber-Lib., and we still won't. Radical leftism will be the death of mainstream Dems. Fine by me.
(: Democratic Party.
I agree with Melissa - Blow-Hard for President. We need some humor (yet truthful insight) in this campaign.
Dude, you've done your research. Maybe I'll put you in as a write-in, when I vote this November. :D
