The Democratic Presidential Race--Please Spare Me!

Pat Burroughs
My husband is confined to the house with an injury and keeps the TV tuned to the news for many hours a day. It seems every time I pass through the living room, I hear Hillary and Obama slugging it out. I'm so sick of it!

This brings to mind these questions:

1. If one of them should become our new President, we are going to have to listen to him/her for at least four years. I don't think I'll ever hear either voice again, regardless of what they are saying, without hearing the fussing I'm forced to hear now. Can we endure four years of that?

2. Does this name-calling and ill will predict the tone of their presidency?

3. If they can't even carry on a campaign and retain their dignity, how in the world can they hope to run a country?

4. Hillary was accused of running the country when Bill was president. Will Bill be accused of running it if Hillary is elected?

5. If Obama is elected, will the US become a Muslim country?

To tell the truth, Hillary has confirmed my opinion that Obama is unfit for the presidency. Obama has convinced me that Hillary is unfit for the job. I can't speak for anyone but myself, but as for me, I'm voting for Edwards. Regardless of what qualifications he may or may not have, at least he knows how to act like a gentleman, and that would go a long way towards getting cooperation from the people with whom he will be working.

You gave me a great memory of how I used to drive my Ex- craze with the political news on non-stop. :-)

    Pat-
Good points all and ell expressed. Hearkens back to my semi-cynical but politically pragmatic notion that "All politicians are imperfect - But some are more imperfect than others." We are always in the position of choosing from among those who NEVER, om close examination, either represent or live the values we hold most dearly. I dearly wish it ere otherwise - as I know you do, too.
    Really nice writing!
