The Departed Review

I would certainly give the director Martin Scorsese a big thumbs up for this movie The Departed. He delivers once again with this Blockbuster film that certainly exceeds all of the expectations of the movie viewer's and even mine personally way beyond belief. There are many circumstances in this movie that portray a horde of tension, drama, and even violence in which many of the individuals at some point in the movie show their true weaknesses and or their vulnerabilities. Theirs a lot of comical moments mixed in with some emotional aspects of the film that was very well done, other than that this is a wonderfully written story by a great American director, Martin Scorsese.

I would deem this movie The Departed to be one of Martin Scorsese's greatest film since he last produced some years ago the movie the Raging Bull, aside from that this isn't really about Martin or how well William Monahan's screen play actually was, it simply comes down to the amazing cinematography. Many of the true accolades for the movie The Departed came down to those people working behind the scenes who helped envision and made this movie possible. It's quite hard to leave out or mention the all star cast and for those that have done many successful movies throughout their long careers. Now for the actors that have helped make this movie a box office success include Alec Baldwin, Leonardo Dicaprio, Matt Damon, Martin Sheen, Mark Wahlberg and finally Jack Nicholson who have all delivered with nothing short of perfect.

There was one particular actor in the movie The Departed that really did it just right and that was for me Mark Wahlberg . Mark Wahlberg's role in the movie was Sergeant Dignam, every scene that Mark Wahlberg acted in he stole the show, he also shared some movie time with the other various actors that I mentioned previously. His lines were by far the best ones and whenever he was in a particular scene he was fabulous, he always kept the movie viewers wanting more from him, and had them anticipating his very next move.

I found Leonardo Dicaprio mildly entertaining considering how he plays an undercover cop in the Frank Constello case. His acting seemed so believable and how he showed us all of his emotions it really stood out to me. He was in fact great in this movie as he was when he first hit it big with the movie the Titanic. I find it quite interesting how many individuals are quick to bash Leonardo Dicaprio's acting because of the many roles he's played in his movies and how they might not find him fit to play a street cop in this movie is absolutely ridiculous. He has this great chemistry in every one of Martin Scorsese's movies that he just fits into every role that is thrown out to him by Martin. I also love how Leonardo can do any movie and make it a hit because he is no longer that kid that couldn't do the bigger roles. He has certainly matured as an actor and as time passes he only becomes better it's been very evident in the last five movie's he's done.

The Departed had an interesting and unique plot, the acting by all of the characters was nothing short of spectacular. The Departed was one of the best movies of 2006 and even in 2010 I find it still very appealing. If this movie is in fact the last gangster movie that Martin Scorsese has in store for us than I'm indeed happy with this being his last. Martin Scorsese should be very proud of his work with this movie because he has left us with a masterpiece. I'm hoping in the very near future he changes his mind and comes through with another gangster movie because it's been a very big part of all the years he's done one. This movie is indeed a must watch movie, it gets two thumbs up by me for the movies shear genius. I truly appreciate the individuals that have taken time out of their day to read this review I am certainly thankful for that.
