Convenience
If you are looking for convenience and don't mind paying a little extra for it, the Detroit Airport Marriott is only a few minutes away from any terminal in the airport. It also, surprisingly is one of the highest rated hotels in the city, which boasts over 100 hotels in and around its metro area. Even if the Airport Marriot is located at your specific gate, a free shuttle that makes rounds nearly every 20 minutes, so you never wait long.
Amenities
Despite being situated in the Detroit airport, the Marriott provides a wide range of amenities, allowing you to enjoy your stay while never leaving the confines of the hotel. Not only is there a rather lush restaurant in the main courtyard of the hotel (which is surrounded on one side by two story tall bamboo shoots), but the Marriott provides an indoor fitness center and pool access. If you don't find what you're looking for in the restaurant, room service is an option, with the charge applying directly to your room bill, so you don't need to pay upon delivery. Internet (wired and wireless) is available in your room for a service fee, but if you'd rather opt out of paying to use the service you may access the Internet for free in the lobby.
Room Quality
The rooms in the Detroit Airport Marriot are excellent, and come in a variety of packages (single to large suites). Each room has exceptional interior decorating, queen to king size beds and large, HD televisions. Bathrooms are comfortable with large, tub based varieties and plush robes for those who enjoy lounging around. Additionally, all the rooms have superior sound insulation, so you are never going to hear landing and departing flights, regardless of the time of day.
Overall Value
The Detroit Airport Marriott is a more expensive alternative than many nearby lodgings, as low end rooms cost over $100 a night (which more than likely is all you are going to need at the airport). However, with the convenient access to your terminal, the additional amount of sleep you gain by residing this close to your gate, and the wide list of amenities, splurging a little on the Marriott is well worth the sticker price, especially if you have a long, early flight ahead of you.
