Music is a form of entertainment and should be kept in the same aspect. It aims for a certain audience to feed upon it and to relate; therefore, in the process, the artist make more money with each sold CD. For example, the "shocker superstar" Marilyn Manson received his nickname for a reason. He has a reputation of shocking parents and the media. Every time he is accused of another teen suicide his ratings increase as well as record sales. His music and actions are nothing more than publicity seeking and America falls for it every time.
Have you ever purchased a CD that you never heard of? Nor wasn't in the least interested in? No, of course not. You buy them based upon recommendations of peers, or after hearing a song on the radio. You must already be interested in a genre of music in order to make a purchase or in today's world, download a song. A lyric doesn't come out of thin air into the depth of a teen's brain and tells him to kill his classmates; yet, parents point their finger at a CD in a blazing stereo, instead of the child who put it there.
When is the last time you heard of a suicide letter having the statement; "I'm dead because the CD I bought." People always assume that music is to blame because it is an easy escape route of the parent's insecurities of there ability to raise a child. What parents have to understand is, it is no ones fault that teens commit suicide. Stop blaming the CDs, movies and games, blame the person holding the gun in their hand, not the song playing the background.
In the end people always look for alternate excuses why things happen, instead of looking at something that is right in front of them. Artists are out to make money not to kill teens. The more you sue and point fingers the more record sales they receive.
