Diaper Genies accomplish this by sealing each individual diaper in a plastic seal that helps to eliminate odors and germs. You place the used diaper in the top of the Diaper Genie, close the Diaper Genie cover and twist the lid. This twisting motion is what wraps the diaper in plastic and seals the diaper. To empty the Diaper Genie, you open the bottom and pull what essentially looks like a large link of sausages out. All of the diapers are connected in one length of links which makes for easy disposal. Diaper Genies are a great baby shower gift idea along with a Diaper Genie refill.
There are many different brands of Diaper Genies out there. However the original and the best is the Playtex Diaper Genie. These Diaper Genies are well made and easy to use. The Playtex Diaper Genie instructions are very easy to read and understand. Playtex has even come out with a new Diaper Genie 2. This new design is supposed to be more modern looking and work even better with containing smells.
There are a few differences though between the Diaper Genie and the Diaper Genie 2. The Diaper Genie 2 is slightly more expensive than the original Diaper Genies. Also, the refillable plastic contained in the Diaper Genie is different so you would need to buy new refills if you upgraded to the new Diaper Genie 2.
There is a large group of people however, who have environmental concerns about the Diaper Genie. This group focuses more on the environmental issues surrounding the Diaper Genie and feels that any benefits of the Diaper Genie are negated by the impact they have on the environment. Because each plastic diaper is wrapped in more plastic some people are concerned about the extra amount of plastic that will be placed into our landfills.
The products that come out of a diaper genie are not biodegradable and create large amounts of trash that must be buried in our land fills. There will however, always be those that will argue that diaper genies are a great invention regardless of environment effects because they help so much to reduce germs in nurseries that can cause children to get sick. They also effectively seal up the human feces contained in the diaper which can cause serious disease and sicknesses.
