The Dilemma of Hurricane Irene

Charlotte Kuchinsky
Irene bears down directly on us tomorrow. We have no idea what that might mean for our futures. But just in case I don't get the chance to speak to you all again, here is a poem for you.

The time may have come

To whisper goodbye.

If that is God's will

Then we won't ask why.

Irene draws nearer.

She will never halt.

The fury she brings

Will end in assault.

We plan for the worst

And hope for the best.

We hold on to faith;

Let God do the rest.

Your prayers we'd welcome

For what me must face

But don't be surprised

If life is erased.

Whatever takes place,

It's as it should be.

Just hope that we've earned

The right to be free.

As for my friendship,

That is yours to keep

If I'm here or there;

Alive or at sleep.

I love you my friends

And I always will.

I hope each of you

Your dreams will fulfill.
