We've Waited a Long Time for Whitney Houston's New Album

When Whitney Houston's new album, "I Look To You," was reviewed by USA Today's music critic Steve Jones on NPR's Tell Me More, we learn that Whitney Houston was nicknamed "The Voice." Today, that famous, near perfect voice is not so perfect after years of substance abuse, but her loyal fans don't mind. On September 2, Whitney Houston on Good Morning America was clean and sober and ready to start again in front of thousands of fans in a concert in New York's famous Central Park.

It's been nearly seven years since Whitney Houston's new album, and now she's trying to make a come-back. Said Steve Jones, reviewing "I Look To You" in an interview on NPR, "She's coming from a pretty deep hole. She hasn't fed her fans for a very long time."

Whitney Houston on Good Morning America sang some songs from "I Look To You" as well as other songs. One song from her new collection is "Million Dollar Bill" written by Alicia Keys, which may be a huge winner at the Grammy Awards next year. Spurred on by her old mentor, Clive Davis, Whitney Houston's new album is out now and ready for plenty of radio time.

Despite the trouble that Whitney Houston has faced in her past, which includes a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown and drug abuse, Whitney Houston has enjoyed enormous success due to her outstanding voice and award winning songs. She is the only artist to have won seven consecutive multiplatinum albums.

However, as Steve Jones on NPR pointed out, Whitney Houston has been absent for six years. She's got her older fan base. However, he added that "a whole generation of other fans have come up who basically only know her from her trials and tribulations." Jones rates Whitney Houston's new album as "cautious." He made it clear that Whitney Houston cannot afford to wait so long for the next one if she wants to be viable. However, "she's not looking for pity," Jones added.

Dressed in leather pants and appearing stylish, yet comfortable in an outfit befitting a vivacious and attractive woman of 46 years, Whitney Houston on Good Morning America was happy and enthusiastic. Many remember Whitney Houston's famous 2002 interview with Diane Sawyer, where Sawyer questioned Houston about her drug use. Today, Whitney Houston on Good Morning America says, "I never left." When Diane Sawyer, of Good Morning America, told Whitney Houston she had been worried about her, Whitney replied, "If you know God - then don't be worried."

Beautiful woman, beautiful voice. Too bad she can't get rid of that bad penny Brown.

It does seem like the drugs have affected her voice...

I'm sorry...ever since hearing her describe Bobby Brown fishing poop from her butt, I haven't looked at her the same. Here's hoping this former train wreck has come back on track for good!
