The Donna Reed Show

The Donna Reed Show was the epitome of the perfect American family, where everyone was well coiffed and well mannered, and got along well with everyone. The family we all longed for was not real, a television fantasy we could lose ourselves in. Donna Reed was an Iowa farm girl who never forgot her roots, born in 1921 as Donna Belle Mullenger.

After starring in several movies, most notably in From Here To Eternity, where Donna earned an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of a prostitute. This was a sharp departure from her clean wholesome faithful wife role Donna is most known for. She also played the wife in the Christmas classic It's A Wonderful Life, opposite James Stewart.

The Donna Reed Show ran from 1958 to 1966, and won her an Emmy every year from 1959 to 1962, playing Mr and Mrs Stone with actor Carl Betz playing her husband, along with two children. Her last role was on the television show Dallas during the 1980s, from where she was abruptly fired for some disagreement with the producers. She was in the process of a lawsuit against the Dallas producers when she passed away.
