The Do's and Don't's of Law

Kay Pierre
Do sue when you have a case.

Find out if you have a case.

Save all of your evidence.

No evidence, no case.

Know as much info as possible about the defendant.

You only have a limited of time to sue.

Your case can expire if you wait too long.

You can file in Small Claim Court for case less than $5000.

Know if you can win or not.

Don't pursue if it looks like you won't win.

Don't waste money on attorney if you have a public defender.

Public defender can get you a Plea Bargain and that's what most lawyers will do.

Don't tell your defendant much about your plan.

Do try to ask them for a settlement outside of court.

Take pictures of damages or crime scene and use them in court.

Gather as much evidence as possible.

You're innocent until proven guilty.

Don't make self-incriminating statement to the police.

Self- incriminating statement is when you says thing that could be use against you in court.

You don't have to say anything to the police.

You can remain silent and ask for an attorney if your case is serious.

You can explain to the police if your case is minor and explaining helps you to be released.

Don't run away from the police.

Don't argue with the police.

Don't piss the police off.

Don't attack the police in any ways.

Follow order nicely when stop by the police.

Don't carry anything illegal in your car.

Hitting anyone with anything in your hand is a felony called assault with a deadly weapon.

Don't hold up a weapon to the police they can fire at you .

The police will fire at you if you try to use a weapon against them.

Don't deal with red tape.

Dealing with the law is the worst thing in this world, it takes years before anything gets done.

Teach your children about the law.

Don't let your children get in trouble because they don't know the law.

The law is cold, they don't feel sorry for any one .

When doing business , always have a written agreement .

If you don't have a receipt , you didn't buy anything.

No paper, no case.

If you don't have it written down, nothing ever happened.

Do have insurance for your business.

Have a really well written contract for your business , it will protect you.

Have a prenuptial agreement.

Have a will.

Write a will on your own and sign it when your young.

Write how you want all of your assets to be distributed when you die in a will.

The state will take your property if you don't have a will.

Have a lawyer friend.

Some lawyer take your money but can't do a thing for you and they know it and won't tell you.

A verbal agreement is no agreement at all; it can be use in court.
