The Downfall of Pat O'Brien

Pat O'Brien has checked back into rehab. This will be the third time the former host of The Insider and Access Hollywood has been in rehab for alcohol abuse. The first time he checked into rehab was in March 2005 after sexually graphic voicemail messages from him to an unidentified woman started to appear in the media. Some people believe that he left the voicemail messages for his co-host on Access Hollywood, Shaun Robinson. They were rumored to be seeing each other. Pat O'Brien was later removed from Access Hollywood and given his own show called The Insider. Shaun Robinson became the lead host of Access Hollywood.

The second time Pat O'Brien checked into rehab was in February 2008. He went back to rehab to battle his alcohol abuse again. Donny Osmond temporarily took over Pat O'Brien co-host duties on The Insider. The bosses of The Insider wanted Donny Osmond to take over as host permanently but he declined. Pat O'Brien returned to The Insider in April 2008. He was later demoted to a correspondent on The Insider. But on September 18, 2008, Pat O'Brien was fired from The Insider. A couple of days before he was canned, he sent a controversial email to his coworkers. In the email, he insults the whole state of Iowa and his co-host Lara Spencer. He went to Iowa to interview Joe Biden but instead made fun of the people in Iowa. He then makes fun of Lara Spencer's segment on The Insider, Look for Less. Pat O'Brien justified his email by saying that people want honesty. People do want honesty. They do not want jealousy, hatred, and arrogance for our fellow Americans like Pat O'Brien showed in his email.

Pat O'Brien has a very serious problem that he can not control. This will be his third stint in rehab but not the last we will be hearing from him. What new job will he be fired from a year from now for doing something very stupid? He is not a young man either. He is sixty years old. He said he has had alcohol and drug abuse problems all the way back to the 1960's.

Hopefully, Pat O'Brien can get the help that he needs this time around in rehab.
