The Downgrade, Politics and Hard Working Americans

The S & P downgraded the United States this past Friday. On Monday, the stock market dropped. To those of us that have IRA's, we lost about 10 percent, of our savings. Then on Monday, the market surged to 429 points. The Fed decided to keep interest rates close to zero. The only bright spot is that the price of gasoline went down a little.

We have all witnessed the grid lock in our nations capitol. Republicans and Democrats don't want to work together. If it wasn't for a forced deadline on the debt ceiling, they would still be there. Republicans won a majority in the House last year, because Americans wanted some things to get done. They wanted less spending. They wanted JOBS. They were promised JOBS. They haven't received anything. So what do our politicians do, they take a break. "Don't you wish you could take a break, when things get tough at work?"

Americans are hard working individuals. We are the greatest nation on the face of the earth. We are compassionate towards our neighbors in need. People, in this country, adapt to different financial situations everyday of the week. We re-adjust our budgets, we fight to pay our bills on time, we fight to keep our homes, we figure out ways to keep our sanity and we don't riot.

We elected people to serve us, not to serve their party. Even the Tea Party elected people to serve them and not their party. They did this to send a message. They want results. Politics should not affect the work that needs to be done. Politicians politic to get elected. Once elected, they are expected to work. When things are going bad, they are expected to work to solve these issues for us.

Here's an idea. Call these people (Congress) back to work. Work on a Jobs bill. Work more on deficit reduction. Place a higher tax on all products from China. Work to stabilize the big three (Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.)

Get the Super Committee of 12 working on debt reduction. Why do they have to wait till November to come up with a plan?

This is America. We are more than Republicans and Democrats. We are all citizens that care about our country. We care about each other. When we need to get something done, politics is the farthest thing from us. We roll up our sleeves and get it done. "We deserve better than this."

"Wew! Where's the Anacin?"
