Utah Valley is swimming with activities and attractions for some scary fun around Halloween time. The Haunted Forest in American Fork Utah has been around for nearly 20 years and features a haunted warehouse and swampy dim lit bridges with creepy people around every turns. Just one I-15 freeway exit south, Hee Haws in Pleasant Grove Utah offers a corn maze haunted by chilling, scary folk and creatures. About two miles the opposite direction on the same road, you'll find The Dreaded Grove in the middle of a vast field with no one to hear your screams.

Follow the search lights when exiting I-15 toward Utah Lake and you can't miss it. You will end up so far from civilization, it seems like another planet. This attraction has a carnival-like atmosphere that is both enticing and eerie. After buying tickets at the run-down old trailer booth, you are given a lanyard with a number on it, indicating when your group is supposed to line up at the gates to the forest. Meanwhile, you wait gathered around a large bon fire, sip on some hot chocolate or snack on other concessions offered nearby. On weekend nights, there are live bands that serenade you as you wait to be scared out of your mind. A demented carnie creeps around the crowd whispering, setting the mood for what is to come.

Not only is the Dreaded Grove a haunted forest, it also offers other activities while you wait to enter the forest or for the younger crowd. They offer a zip line (Bat Flight) activity where you zip over the crowd waiting to enter the forest, a fortune teller, a Ghost shoot out, swamp rides, hay rides and a booth for watching scary movies.

The Dreaded Grove has plenty of frightening scares with well-hidden figures, startling scenes to pass through and creative set ups. It's winding trails are dimly lit and terrifying as you think you see things that aren't there and wish things that are there were not. At many points, you are forced to pass through grizzly scenes that seem like there is no way out. This event is sure to satisfy a need to participate in the festive Halloween spirit.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from dark until 10:30pm. Proceeds benefit the Rocky Mountain Candle lighters for Children's Cancer.
