The Drifter: A Poem of a Girl About to Graduate From College

Veronica S.
Drifting away from reality
My life becomes nothing; but sin
Which has consumed my spotted soul
Leaves me wanting and wasting within.
No liquor, nor drug, nor appealing eyes,
That, with tongues, tease and tantalize,
Can resuscitate the drowning shore
Eroded by the ebb of elusive lies.

A drifter and wanderer
Of the world and of worldly mind,
A lost ghost amidst the mist of religion
Where I not even my God can find.
A spirit that longs for its lost innocence
And the deceptive undeniable-truth
That would give anything for a youthful mind
And other decaying treasures of youth.

Drifting, drifting...
Down life's lowering labyrinth road
Desperately seeking the end of confusion,
But scared by the answers hid in the
Darkness down below.
