It was glorious in New York City this past weekend and there was no shortage of things to do and places to be. One of the hopping events of the weekend was the Dumbo Arts Festival in Brooklyn.

This is one of the premier arts festivals in the city and this year's version kicked off the fall season in style.

There were events, performances and viewings peppered throughout the neighborhood, and I was keen to try and hit up as many as I could.

There were open studios up and down Jay and Washington Street, and some great artists were hawking their wares all day Saturday.

As a wannabe amateur photographer, I was especially impressed by the ASMP-NY's Image 10 Photo Competition exhibit on Jay Street. Some beautiful student and professional shots really inspired me to get my camera and think about submitting my work for next year's competition.

And of course, the old hippie in me managed to stumble upon a few drum circles and channel my connection to Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead. It was almost like when I saw Dylan and the Dead at the Foxboro Stadium in '87!

I am bummed that summer is over, but the Dumbo Arts Festival was exactly the way to start fall off right.
