But if you're looking to start your journey towards rebuilding your credit to what you desire, fret no longer. There are banks out there giving credit cards to people in your situation. They're branded "rebuilder" credit cards and they may not have the most desirable terms, but they are an opportunity for you to prove you can be responsible with credit and open up doors for you to better credit cards and good rates on car loans and home mortgages.
Below I'm going to list a few of the best ones to shoot for. Hopefully after you check some of these sites out you can say goodbye to getting denial letter after denial letter and hello to a fresh start on building or rebuilding that ever important FICO score.
Orchard Bank- http://www.orchardbank.com - Orchard is quite possibly the best rebuilder credit card issuer out there. There is a one time processing fee of $15 and a $79 annual fee on their Gold MasterCard which is offered most likely to the customers in the worst circumstances, but once you get past those two negatives and look at their great customer service and current APR rates of 9.90% to 15.99%, those factors make Orchard the clear choice if you've been denied credit from the big banks.
Credit One Bank - http://www.creditonebank.com - Credit One would be my pick if denied by Orchard. The terms start getting a tad more mucky when compared to what Orchard offers when you look at Credit One's cards. Their basic Visa has a annual fee of $69 that is billed to you at $5.75 a month (a feature that I like. I wish Orchard did this with the annual fee), a one time enrollment fee of $69, and a standard APR of 23.9% (ouch), but if you're truly in need of credit and really want to improve your score and this is the best you can get, I say go for it.
First Premier - http://www.firstpremier.com - Definitely the least desirable of the three credit card options I am going to list in this article, First Premier will pile fees after fees on top of you until you are completely buried alive. If you have been turned down by EVERYONEelse and feel this is your last shot, you may just go for it. But be sure to read over all of their terms and card holder agreements before you fill out an application with these guys. If you do decide to bit the bullet and apply, odds are you will be accepted at First Premier. They'd probably approve anyone with a pulse.
If you're having a hard time trying to start or start over on your credit, I hope one of these banks helps you out and gets you started to building the score that you deserve and opens up doors for you that you never thought could be open. As always though, always read and then read again all disclosures and terms and agreements before going for a credit card. All of the best of luck in the future and I hope to see you reach that magical 800 or higher FICO score one day.
