The Easiest Party Makeup

Amanda Furbeck

It takes time to look this good….. or does it? With a few simple strategies, you can get yourself - or at least your makeup, party ready in no time at all. Before party season starts, you'll want to make sure that you have all the needed party pieces on hand. Practice your makeup and hair styles so that you don't have to stress and struggle when you're late for a date. Here are the most basic items you'll need to use, and how to use them.

Don't neglect your skin. If your skin is in good, your makeup will go on easier and look a whole lot better. So as you're preparing for party season, make sure to take good care of your skin. Wash it with a cleanser meant for your skin type, use toner to pH balance your skin, and moisturize. Use the appropriate age-fighting and acne fighting products to keep your skin in its best shape. You'll love what you see in the mirror.

Concealer. If your skin is in great shape, you won't have a lot of problems to conceal. But you can use a dab of concealer to hide dark circles, blemishes, and highlight shadowy areas. Just be sure not to use too much and choose a color that closely matches your skin. I prefer to use a stick concealer, which has a slightly dry consistency.

Choose a great foundation. If your skin is dry, use a very creamy foundation. If your skin is oily, stick to an oil-free liquid or powder foundation. Choose a light or medium coverage, and be sure to blend. If necessary, choose a couple different shades and test drive them in the sunlight to see which ones work best.

Eye primer. If you're going to party all night long, you really need your eye makeup to last. An eye primer can conceal veins and uneven skin tone around your eyes while keep that eye shadow right in place.

2 shades of eye shadow. The simplest eye look is just to use two shades of shadow. Sweep a pale, slightly shimmery cream or white shadow from the crease of your eyes all the up to your brow. Keep it sheer and thin. Then, take a bright or dark accent color, and sweep it across your lids. Blend it into the crease where the lighter color is. The result will be a fading of dark color nearest your lashes to the palest color near your eyebrows.

Dark eye liner and mascara. Line your eyes all the way around for a dark, sultry look. Keep the line extremely thin in the inner corners of the eyes, and make it a little thicker towards the outside corner of the eyes. Flick the outside corners up and out just a little bit to create a hint of a cat eye. Top off with two coats of your favorite (waterproof) mascara.

A hint of bronzer. Sweep a touch of bronzer along your cheekbones for a hint of glow.

A dusting of powder. Set everything with a light application of pressed powder foundation. It will keep your makeup from sliding off and you can touch it up through the night as needed.

The perfect lip gloss. Save the best for last and apply a beautiful, rich, lip gloss. Choose a wine color if your eye color is neutral, if your eye color is very bright choose a clear or pink gloss.

In just a few steps, you transformed yourself to party ready. The makeup steps are easy. All you need are the right pieces and a few minutes to practice.
