The Easiest Salad You've Ever Made!

MJ
We like eating, my husband and me but I don't like the cooking-bit. So by now Mr.McD is driving a Mercedes-convertible from our money alone, the pizza-guy starts recognizing us from afar and gives a friendly wave and the Chinese (Who is not Chinese at all but from Thailand) is becoming a firm friend, who knows everything about our family. Needless to say the local priest, who was once invited to our house for a dinner party, has not been seen again in the neighborhood, let go my house!

So I am always on the lookout for very simple recipes that even a 5-year old can make. But I also want to amaze people with my (non-existing) cooking skills. Here it goes:You will need: potatoes, eggs, lots of American mayonnaise,pepper,salt,1 can of Spam, for garnish: lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber. Peel a lot of potatoes and cook them, as you would normally do. Drain and put in fridge for cooling. Take 1 can of Spam and grate it.Boil a couple of eggs Put in fridge to cool off. When cold, grate the eggs as well.

.When the potatoes are cooled off, mash them manually. Throw in a lot of mayonnaise and a bit of pepper and salt. Add 3/4 of the Spam, and 3/4 of the grated eggs. Mix this with a spoon. Then take a nice big platter and mount the Spam salad on the platter, make it into a roundish shape. Add more mayonnaise over the top an perhaps a sprinkling of paprika-powder.(just looks nice).Arrange the lettuce around the heap and put the grated spam and egg on top of the lettuce. If you want to add tomatoes, cucumber or capsicum that will look even better, but you'll need a large platter.

I find this an easy recipe to make when we are invited over to friends'houses or barbeque's.

The next recipe I cannot claim as my own, but I want to share it with you anyway: a salad. You will need: 100gr.Emmentaler cheese, 2 pears,lemonjuice,2 stalks of cellery, some walnuts, mayonaise,1 spoon sour cream and 1 iceberg lettuce.

Cut the cheese in tiny bits, peel the pears and cut these to pieces and cover them with lemonjuice (for keeping them looking fresh),chop the cellery, chop the walnuts. Mix the sour cream with the mayonaise. Wash the iceberg and arrange in bowl. Throw all the above in and put the mayonaise-sour cream on top. Garnish with a couple of walnuts. Happy dining!

I never knew I could write until I joined AC. I paint, I write, love animals and ironing. (no not the last one but it looked better).  View profile
