The Easy and Quick Way to Maintain a Clean Toilet and Bath

Tips on the Efficient Cleaning of Your Toilet and Bath

I am a very busy person, juggling between being a wife, having an on-call freelance job, and preparing to be a mom. At the same time, I also try to keep our small room and our toilet and bath clean and tidy.

I personally do the cleaning of the toilet and bath because I don't like waiting for the maids to do it and having to wait while the smell and residue is building up on the floors and walls. But I don't keep a regular cleaning schedule. I just somehow manage to keep it clean all throughout the week without having to spend hours brushing, scrubbing, etc.

Here is what I do.

Our bathroom has three areas: the wash area (with sink, cabinet, shelves and mirror), the toilet, and the shower area.

Whenever we use the sink, we make sure to wipe off the water that was splashed all around. And then we wipe the water droplets on the mirror. We always have a cleaning rag handy. It just takes a few seconds to do this, but saves us a lot of scrubbing off the water stains when they build up. I also have a sponge handy, so whenever I would wash underwear there, I use the laundry water to wipe/scrub off the sink to prevent buildup. Very convenient.

The toilet. As for the toilet, my cleaning agents are just beside the bowl, including the brush. Whenever I see that the bowl is no longer clear, I put some cleaning agent and brush it immediately. Then i would wipe off the rim of the bowl using tissue and some disinfectant. Then i would flush the bowl. It eliminates the odor and disinfects the area as well. Takes all about 2 minutes. It doesn't need to be scrubbed much because I don't allow the stains to build up and harden.

The floor. The floors need more frequent cleaning because I hate the sight of our fallen hairs on the floor. I would wet an absorbent mop, apply some disinfectant on it, and mop the floor going in one direction, let us say, in the middle of the room. Then I would just easily pick up the hairs and dirt from the floor, scrape those that have stuck on the mop, and then just rinse the mop on running water and squeeze. Very simple. Takes about 2 minutes as well.

The shower area. Whenever I see that the floor and walls have the brown buildup from the water, I would grab a sponge that I just place beside the door, put some cleaning agent and would start scrubbing. If the buildup is only a few days old, you dont need to scrub that much--it is more like just wiping the surfaces with a sponge. It only takes a lot of effort to do if the build up has been there for months or even years.

What makes these things easy to do is the fact that I don't do all these at one time. Whenever I see the need to do it, I immediately do it. So I don't have to spend hours at one time cleaning the bathroom.

You should try this system too and see if it works for you.
