Nintendo Wii is the hit video gaming system this season. Its unique motion activated remote controller's places the player in the game and creates an interactivity which is not afforded with any other gaming system on the market today. Additionally, Wii comes with a built-in 802.11b/g Wi-Fi wireless network support which supports all current wireless encryption standards, WEP, WPA, and WPA2. With the proper configuration, the Nintendo Wii console can connect to the Internet through your wireless network and access the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service (www.nintendowifi.com). Here you can access many free multiplayer games as well as play multiplayer games with other Wii user from around the world.
Configuring your Wii to your homes existing wireless network is not that difficult. The Wii network setup screens are short and easy to navigate. It will not take too much time to complete, just follow these steps;
From Wii's home menu page select Wii Options, next Wii Settings, Click the right arrow, then select Internet.
Click on Select Connection Settings, next Connection 1, next select Wireless Connection, and then Click search for an Access Point (here you Wii system will search for any nearby wireless router or access point. You will be asked, display the list? Click OK.) .
Wii will display a list of all available Internet access points. Select your network and Click OK to save.
Next Wii will request to test the connection, Click Ok, a successful connection will prompt an update the wireless setting screen, Click Yes.
You are just about done now. Return to the Wii System Setting Screen and select WiiConnect 24. From the list Click WiiConnect24, select On and then save your settings.
There is not too much trouble shooting involved. If Wii does not detect your wireless network, go make sure the router or access point is on. If there is an access point available, your Wii system will locate it. If you do not have a wireless network you can purchase a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector. The Wi-Fi USB Connector adds basic wireless access point capabilities to your personal computer in your home without the need for you to set up a complete network.
After you are connected, you will be able to use all of the Internet related features of your Wii system; news, forecast, and internet channels to name a few. But best of all, you will get the chance to compare your skills with other Wii players from around the world through multiplayer gaming.
