The Easy Way to Raise Necromancy and Spirit Speak to 120 Skill in Ultima Online

T.Smith
Necromancy and Spirit Speak are great skills for both PVP (Player vs. Player) and PVM (Player vs. Monster) in Ultima Online. Learn how to power up your Necromancer with this short and easy method to reach up to (120) legendary skill without using reagents or wasting time.

To get started you will need a 100% LRC (lower reagent cost) suit with 2/6 FC and FCR (Faster Casting and Fast Cast Recovery. It is also a good idea for human characters to have at least 3 HPR (Hit Point Regeneration), while non-humans will need 5 HPR. It is also ideal but not necessary to have 40% LMC (lower mana cost) and 12 MR (Mana Regeneration). You will also benefit from having meditation and focus skills while you train. Visit a shrine and lock your karma so it will not raise, you want your karma as low as possible while you are training Necromancy and Spirit Speak. Once you have your necromancy spell book you are ready to get started.

The anti-macro code has been removed from Ultima Online so it is no longer desirable to train on a boat and use the 8 by 8 method. You can now train your skills in your house, which will speed up your training because you will not be subjected to the dangers of the open water.

The method to raise the necromancy and spirit speak skills is simple. You will cast necromancy spells and use the spirit speak skill directly over and over again. To make steady gains, you must increase the difficulty of the spells that you use. Here is a list of which necromancy spells you should cast and important caveats to increasing your skills.

0-30 Buy

Buy from the Necromancer trainer in Umbra or New Haven, it is not efficient to raise your skill from zero by casting when for the investment of a mere 300 gold, you can be well on your way to training up your necromancy skill.

30-55 Wraith Form Spell

Simply cast the Wraith Form Spell over and over again, as quickly as you can while using the spirit speak skill directly. Do not use meditation, use spirit speak instead and allow meditation and focus to passively regenerate your mana. When you reach 50 skill in both Necromancy and Spirit speak summon a shadow wisp using the Summon Familiar spell. The shadow wisp will speed up your training by giving you back 10 mana with each pulse if you have low karma, the lower your karma is the more mana you will receive back and the faster your necromancy skill will raise, it's important to keep your shadow wisp out at all times while you are training.

55-75 Horrific Beast Spell

The horrific beast spell is just like the Wraith Form Spell, cast it over and over again until you reach 75 Necromancy skill.

75-90 Wither Spell

When you reach 75 skill in necromancy you can begin casting the Wither Spell, Wither is a great spell because it can be cast very fast. You will begin to notice that mana will begin to be an issue once you begin casting wither.

When you reach 70 skill, use the Lich Form spell to turn into a lich and stay in lich form while you train because the mana regeneration you receive from lich form is huge, giving you the equivalent of 13 mana regeneration a second. If the suit you are using for training has 12 mana regeneration, 40% lower mana cost and you are using meditation, focus and a shadow wisp in lich form, you should be able to reach 90 skill very quickly and seldom run out of mana. Continue to use spirit speak directly while you train and you will also be healed. One of the issues with Lich Form is that it continually drains 5 hit points from you every second or so. If you have hit point regeneration, you can counter this effect, it is also worth noting that although you will have no hit points, lich form will not kill you unless you receive damage from another source.

90-105 Lich Form

Like the previous necromancy transformation spells you have used for training, simply cast lich form over and over again.

105-120 Vampiric Embrace

Congratulations, you are now nearing the end of your training, cast the Vampiric Embrace skill over and over again until you are done.
