The Easy-Bake Oven FAQ

What temperature does an Easy-Bake Oven cook at? Can I buy replacement pans? Whatever happened to the old Kenner recipes? Find out in this brief Easy-Bake oven FAQ!

What temperature does an Easy-bake Oven bake at?

Hasbro's Easy-bake Oven recipe mixes say you can bake them in a regular oven at 375 degrees, so approximately 375 degrees.

Where can I buy replacement Easy-bake Oven pans?

Well, if you need them now, people often sell extra pans on Ebay. However, these can get pretty pricey both for the pans themselves and the cost of shipping. If you can wait 4-6 weeks, you can reorder Easy-bake or Real Meal Oven pans via Hasbro's printable mail order form for the reasonable price of $1.50 which includes shipping and handling.

Is it okay to use other pans in the Easy-bake Oven?

If you have a an Easy-bake Oven with only one door, I don't recommend you use anything other than official Easy-bake pans in it.
But...
If you have a Real Meal Oven or another model of Easy-Bake Oven with an entry and exit door, as long as the pans are oven safe, small enough to fit in your Easy-bake Oven with all metal doors closed, and sturdy enough to be pushed with the pusher, yes you can. Real Meal Ovens have a pull out cooling rack that you can use instead of the regular grabber, so as long as you let it cool or use an oven mitt you shouldn't have any problems taking it out.

What was that recall in 2007 all about?

There was a risk that kids', and I suppose adults', fingers could become trapped in the oven door. You can find the details at Hasbro's official site or search Easy-Bake Oven recall.

Where can I find replacement Easy-bake Oven accessories (spatula, pusher, etc.)?

As with replacement pans, I recommend using Hasbro's mail order form, or Ebay if you're in a hurry.

I have an Easy-bake Real Meal oven, but I can't find the mixes in my store anymore. Is there anywhere else I can buy them?

I recommend making your own mixes. They're cheaper and you control the quality and freshness of ingredients. That said, if I were a kid receiving a second hand Easy-Bake Oven as a gift I would want store bought mixes with it. You can reorder the mixes that come with the Real Meal oven via Hasbro's printable mail order form. They're cheaper than the ones you would buy in a store, too. I would caution against using Ebay to buy mixes; there's no way of knowing how fresh they are.

My Easy-bake Oven manual says never to use meat or dairy products in it, but the recipes I've found online contain them. Is it okay to use them then?

The, relatively, short answer is: yes, it is okay to cook meat or dairy in your Easy-bake Oven as long as the recipe: a) is tested and designed or redesigned for use in an Easy-bake Oven b) follows the rules of basic food safety and c) will not cause boil over in the case of milk. Just be careful if you do decide to use meat and dairy.

I can think of a few reasons Easy-bake Oven manuals caution against using meat and dairy products. To begin with, the product is designed with young cooks in mind, cooks that don't yet know about proper meat handling procedures and the temperature danger zone. Then there's the fact that milk is prone to boil over which could not only leave a mess in your cooking chamber, but potentially cause the oven to malfunction. My advice is don't let the kids, or yourself, cook with meat or dairy until you understand the rules of food safety, but what better way to learn than with an Easy-bake Oven?

When I was a kid, my Kenner Easy-Bake oven came with a cookbook that had real recipes in it. What happened?

Hasbro really wants you to buy those over priced Easy-bake mixes. The good news is you can still look up and print out the Kenner recipes from the customer service/instruction section of the Hasbro website or try one of the Easy-bake sites I have in my links. Most of them aren't shy about posting the Kenner recipes.

Where can I find homemade Easy-Bake Oven mix recipes online?

My three favorite sources are EBO Recipes, Recipezaar, and the recipe book available online from Hasbro.
