Chicago's Eckhart Park neighborhood, centered on Chicago Avenue, and extending West to Ashland Avenue, is home to a superior park district field and field house, with a full size, readily available pool. The Park District building at 1330 W. Chicago has meeting rooms, a large gymnasium, and a weight room with machines and free weights. The six-lane pool, maintained at 79 degrees (summer or winter), features a lap swimming program, as well as organized activities for Chicago seniors. Floor to ceiling windows provide light and circulation. Lockers are available.

Facility management may allow drop-in swimming; the regular periodic program rate is usually $35. /quarter. For best times to attend, call 312.746.5490 for the pool, or 312.742.5121 for general Park District information.

The Eckhart Park District field is large and well kept. It is well utilized by park district baseball and flag-football teams in season, and even in cold weather, nearby schools and student groups, including Reserve Officers' Training Corp (ROTC) programs, meet to exercise.
