As we all know, childhood is the most crucial period to mold a person. What is perceived when a child is young will reflect in his or her behavior. If this is reinforced by the environment, he children will follow what their parents and teachers portrayed to them when they were young. You see the responsibility as an adult and educator is vast and determining life of an individual and future of the society.
The teacher himself or herself is of course, the most important person in the classroom for all children; he is the only adult in this situation and the child's activities are regulated mainly by him or her. He is also the leader of the large group, on whom all the group members are so utterly dependent. No wonder that every child is greatly concerned as to whether or not the teacher likes him and appreciates his work, so much so that his interpretation of the teacher's behavior might e quite unrealistic.
At one time, for instance, my friend had great difficulties with a group of adolescent girls to whom he taught German. They were often inattentive, they talked a great deal and seemed discontented .After a whole she he began to realize that they disliked her because she frequently corrected their German pronunciation. To her, this seemed to be part of her job, but they obviously felt that she was critical of them as people and as a result they became troublesome.
There are a number of reasons why pupils may have a slightly distorted view of their teacher's behavior and attitudes. Some of these can be linked to the way in which we see all other people's behavior to some extent in terms of our own feelings. This is one of the major assumptions in all psycho-analytically orientated theories of behavior. The teacher, as the leader of the group is, of course, more exposed to such distorted interpretations than most people.
Children are not mature enough to rationalize the reasons and responsibility of the adult that impacted their life. The best is that they will resolve the complex when they grown up to the stage of understanding he society and social roles more.
