The Elephants' Feet

Dan Reveal
"Go at your own pace,"
said the raindrop vendor with the need to chase
those hop-a-long days near the radio stand.
"Go at your own pace, go at your own pace and be your own man."

"Dear woman, I'll tell you again,"
said the news stand taxicab with the need to defend
those bundles of joy that were left by the door.
"Dear woman, let me tell you, let me tell you once more."

And do the elephants' feet have to be painted all the same?
If we just left quietly, maybe they'd forget who to blame.
"Elvis in slow motion" came to the screen while you were gone--
hold all my calls while I soothe the window ledge birds with a song.

"Do you want me to hold your hand,"
said the gentle giant with the need to expand
upon the nursery rhyme combat gun motif.
"Do you want me to hold your hand, to hold your hand while you overcome your grief?"

So don't make a move 'till your heart tells you so.
Don't make a move 'till your heart tells you so.
How may I win you back when you were always the first to know?

And do the elephants' feet have to be painted all the same?
If we just left quietly, maybe they'd forget who to blame.
"Elvis in slow motion" came to the screen while you were gone--
hold all my calls while I soothe the window ledge birds with a song.

Sounds pretty erotic in certain ways to me... Another fabulous poem, such a melody and so tender as usual.
