Staying at the Empress of Little Rock (located in the Quapaw Quarter Historic District of Little Rock, Arkansas) is like stepping back in time to the Victorian era. Not only does the Bed & Breakfast exterior and interior replicate a Victorian house, but the proprietors dress up in Victorian attire and serve a Victorian inspired breakfast. The Little Rock Bed & Breakfast has a lot of history as well.

We stayed there for only one night as the start of our vacation in Arkansas and were treated very well by Deborah, the inn keeper, and Sharon and Bob, the proprietors. We stayed in the Washburn room which had an electric fireplace (that came on in the middle of the night thanks to either a ghost or the police scanner that is on the same radio wave), a sitting bench, lots of tables, a television, an iron and an ironing board, a full bathroom with a claw foot tub, and of course Victorian bedding. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was well equipped but we found it difficult to shower with the liner that was installed on the tub.

The mattress was very squeaky so that's one thing that kept me from sleeping. And the light from above the window at the top of the entrance door let in too much light which also made it difficult to sleep.

We were told that the Empress of Little Rock Bed & Breakfast in Little Rock, Arkansas was haunted and that the poker room in the attic was a known hot spot. Of course we didn't believe it but when we went into the poker room, I swear I felt something. Staying at a place with so much history and that was lovingly restored was interesting and unique.

Coffee, tea and snacks like chocolate covered biscotti are provided in the guest hall which we really appreciated. My favorite part of the Empress of Little Rock in Little Rock, Arkansas was the exterior. The house had a wraparound porch with a porch swing, plenty of chairs, outlets (for your computer and cell phone), and the landscaping was beautiful as well.

I personally was disappointed with breakfast and could have done with modern cuisine (instead of hot apple soup with clotted cream) but the proprietors do work hard to keep everything in Victorian style. The interior of the lower level is worth a visit even if you're staying at the Empress of Little Rock Bed & Breakfast in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Sounds ineresting, but a mattress that is noisey is not a good thing for many people!
