For my 39th article I came out of my fictitious pen name repository and posted my real name and photo. I'm an actual Associated Content avatar now, the flesh, blood, and bone of a real cyber writer.
After 40 submissions (there were more, but Associated Content went corporate and deemed several of my most personal expositions as inappropriate and offensive) I'm now ready to start my rise to the top of the clout ladder.
I'm currently at Level 6 with a progress level of 90% on Associated Content.
I'm a long way from the top, but I think penning my real name and following a few popular publishing and promotion techniques will have me hitting a lot more Associated Content pay dirt in the future. I can see all the new stacks of shiny copper pennies now.
First, write on topics folks can sink their teeth into. Topics like this one, personal pufferies on how it feels to be a struggling writer on Associated Content, are a complete waste of time.
Also, write about topics you either know a lot about, think you know a lot about, or would like to know a lot about.
More importantly, use your writer's instinct to publish content your research tells you other writers and readers at Associated Content are either interested in or might be interested in.
Focus on the mainstream, the trending now areas of the Internet including sports, entertainment, and celebrity gossip - the kind of writing folks just can't seem to get enough of.
The format of your content is also a key part of your ladder-climbing success at Associated Content. Write short one- or two-sentence paragraphs suitable for 7th-grade reading levels.
You must keep the average intellectual capacity of your readers in mind at all times. The trick is to avoid insulting the intelligence of your readers at all costs.
Use as many key search tags in your Associated Content writing as possible. Repeat these key words and phrases as many times as you can.
Follow the advice of other writers like me and the tutorials on Associated Content at all times.
Here are a few do's and don'ts that might keep you out of trouble and at the top in the crucial clout-climbing area of content promotion:
Do write nice short comments all of the time. Words and expression like fantastic, great job and wonderful or interesting article usually do the trick.
Don't write negative comments some of the time. Negative comments are generally a reflection of your writer's envy and should be avoided no matter what.
Do become friends and exchange niceties with as many other writers as possible. Building a long list of fans and followers like capitulatory friend requests on Facebook is one popular technique.
Don't bite the hands that feed you, the fans and followers you need to climb to the highest levels of AC success.
Do remember that writing and publishing at Associated Content is seldom what you want it to be. It's usually just what it's supposed to be, and you can either accept it or else.
Don't forget to have fun and be respectful of others, just like you learned in kindergarten.
If you use a real pen name, play nice and by the rules, climbing the Associated Content clout ladder can be as easy as 1-2-3.

Post a CommentLOL, had to add, AC has now deemed some of my later articles 'offensive' too (seems if you're remotely critical of America on AC, you're a pariah). Weirdly though, the Hong Kong newspaper I sold one of the articles to after AC deleted it paid me $200, so in reality AC did me a favor. :)
Yup, love the advice here, I too got brave after a while and started using my given name............And you are certainly correct..AC doesn't always give us what we want but I love this site
Hey, congrats on coming out of the closet :)
