There are many theories floating around the web. Websites and users alike dedicated to predicting the last novel of an orphan boy who was born a wizard. Questions left with the last novel, Harry Potter and the Half- Blood Prince, feed these theories as well as past story lines that have been left unfinished. Is Snape good or bad? Is Sirius dead? How will Dumbledore appear in this last book if he is indeed dead? I will delve into the most popular insinuations.
Firstly, the two most important topics left for speculation in book 6th are what Snape's position is and what about the horcruxes. As you see in the last book, Snape killed Dumbledore. Shocking as it was it might have been planned. In book four there is a dialogue where Dumbledore asked Snape if he knows what he now has to do. What he has to do isn't said but it could be assumed that if the time came that Snape would "prove" his loyalty to the dark side to get back in with Voldemort by destroying Dumbledore. To further push the betting on good, Snape has always been trusted by Dumbledore, no matter what Harry said, and he has had plenty of chances to get rid of Harry himself but hasn't and has even saved Harry's life.
But not all about Snape is good. There is the fact that was once a Death- Eater, a Voldemort follower, and he hates Harry with a passion. The one the morals of the story is that killing is wrong which was proved when Harry didn't let Sirius or Lupin kill Peter because that would make them murderers. Snape's killing may not be redeemable in the eyes of some fans for that fact. It also shows that he choose his life over Dumbledore's, showing a very selfish nature. He could have easily stood up to the Death- Eaters or break is Unbreakable Vow.
What about the Horcruxes? The book claims to have seven which we have to assume is true. But what are they? We do know that one was Tom Riddle's diary in Chamber of Secrets, Marvolo's Ring, and most likely Slytherin's Locket which raises another question as to who is R.A.B. Some speculate as it being Sirius's brother, Regulus because of the fact that a locket was found in the Black home that would not open and that Regulus had once been a Death- Eater. Other possibilities are Hufflepuff's cup, Nagini, Voldemort's snake and something that belong to the houses of both Gryffindor and Ravenclaw.
Where are they? This is will probably be most the plot of the final book; the journey that Harry will have to go on to find these hidden and possibly unknown holders of Voldemort's soul.
There are theories that have been cast out by comments left by the author, J.K. Rowling, and hints to thinks that will come to pass in the final adventure of Harry Potter (or so we think!). Dumbledore is really dead but she has also hinted he will be the book somehow. Maybe his portrait? Harry is NOT related to Voldemort or Dumbledore. The prophecy is about Harry, so drop the theories about Neville. Lily is not a Death- Eater nor is she alive. Petunia is not a squib.
Things that will be are that there will be a wedding for Fleur and Bill. You will learn something about Lily and Petunia. We will realize Snape's loyalties. Harry will have to destroy the horcruxes in order to kill Voldemort. Someone will do magic late in life, someone will reappear and at lease two important characters will die. It also safe to assume Harry will need to go to the Dursley's one last time, will visit Godric's Hollow, and he will face Voldemort in a final showdown and that one or both will die.
So hold your breath just a little longer. The release is just around the corner and all our questions will be answered. We will mark the end of a great literary series and a hero recognized around the world.
