The End of Mike Franks on "NCIS"

Mike Franks has been a long time friend and boss to Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Franks started out as being Jethro's boss when Gibbs was a probie with "NCIS." Once Franks retired from "NCIS," Gibbs took his place with his own team.

During the years, Mike and Jethro remained friends. Mike was the one constant in Jethro's life and Franks always referred to Gibbs as "probie."

When Gibbs was in retirement, he went to Mexico to live with Franks on the beach. Franks was not to happy about Gibbs being his company.

Franks over the years took certain matters into his own hands like Gibbs has been known to do. In one instance, Franks went after the Governor of Mexico because he tried to kill him and his family; which included Gibbs. He would not stand for his family and friends being harmed any more than Gibbs would.

Even though Director Vance was not a fan of Franks, he got him. He knew Franks, even with his cowboy ways, was one of the best "NCIS" agents. There were times when Vance would look the other way when Gibbs would call Franks to help on a case.

Vance did not look the other way when Gibbs called Franks to help with the Port-to-Port case because it involved a CIA agent, Trent McCord, who Gibbs and Vance both despise.

Since Trent McCord did not care for Mike to set in on a briefing of information he was going to share on the PTP killer, Vance had him stay because of McCord's dislike for Franks.

In the end, Franks called the PTP killer out in front of Gibbs's house. By doing this, Franks changed the serial killer's MO. During their street fight in the rain, the PTP kills Franks and escapes. Gibbs finally unzips Franks' body bag and tells him good bye.

It also lead Gibbs to figuring out the killer's MO while talking with Vance in his office. When it hits Gibbs to what the PTP killer is after, Vance warns Agent Barrett and her team. The PTP takes down Levin first and Cade next.

Barrett goes after PTP only to be taken down as well. At this point, it is hinted at her whole team will be killed by the PTP because she was promoted over Gibbs.

However, Tony, Ziva, Abby, and Tim grieve over the loss of Franks. Team Gibbs had become close with Franks in their own way since meeting him.

Will Franks be gone for good? It is highly doubtful since part of Gibbs and his last conversation talked about the ghosts in their pasts. One of the ghosts Franks mentioned was the memories those who entered their lives created.

It has been shown that Gibbs' first wife's memory has came back to haunt him over the years since her death. Not only has her "ghost" came back, Chachi and Kate's memories have came back to the team during cases and to help the team heal.
