Missionaries go where others fear to tread and in this case, into the heart of the Amazon Jungle to come face to face with tribes who have never seen white men before. You can only imagine the fear on both sides of the end of the spear.
What the film captures in very graphic footage can be summarized from a clip taken from the End of the Spear website, "a journey deep into the heart of the Amazon jungle and even deeper into the human condition."
A bereaved son returns to confront his father's murderer and show forgiveness to the Aucca Indians. This is a true story and even though you may not be Christian you will appreciate the power of forgiveness and how it can forge relationships and understanding among two very different 'tribes' of people.
The End of the Spear is a true movie that will reside with you for a very long time. What is the depth of your capacity to forgive? I cannot imagine being tested to the degree that the missionary's son was tested.
The capacity to forgive lies within each of us. Hopefully it will never be this extremely tested.
The film is produced by Ethnographic Media. They are responsible for bringing some of the most insightful and true-to-life stories to film. They have dealt with difficult topics such as HIV/AIDS, conflict in the Holy Land, and the taking of life in the Amazon in this most recent project. They boldly go, like the missionaries, where others fear to tread.
This from their website:
EGM films all share a common thread of ordinary people finding themselves compelled to lead extraordinary lives, often amid suffering and strife.
They are an extraordinary film maker.

Post a CommentAlways enjoy what you write. So vibrant and real.
Nicely Written, thank you
We know a missionary family in Ecuador. This is so close to us.
I agree w/Danielle about the movie. I can't remember the title, but there's another movie coming out about the children of a murdered pastor and missionary. Somehow it made their faith stronger.
Very well written. Thanks!
Very good topic and article. I think the movie would be too overwhelming for me.
