The End of the World as I See It

Alvin Park
Reviving zombies,
Mouth-to-mouth with lipless fiends
That have bandages over bloody, empty chests.

Watching birds
Make friends with cement sidewalks
Wings flapping like fire blankets
As the smell of singed feathers
Embraces my nostrils.

And now,
Here I lay,
Holding your hand
Because that's all that they could find.
