The Endangered Seal - Save Us

You stare at me
Wide eyed and scared-
Eyes deep pools of black.

I reach out in hope
Of keeping you safe
But all I can do is stare back.

I see your fear
From the tear you shed
And wish I could wipe it away.

As time goes by
I feel I have failed
Because the tear is still there each day.

You may be cute,
You may be cuddly
But your eyes are what I see.

I'd cast a miracle,
Wash away your sadness,
From inhumanity, you'd be free.

I'll reach out again
And give my best try
Because that tear you shed,
Comes from my eye.
