Mother's Day was May 13th and for Mother's Day we decided to go to the Waterside Restaurant at the Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort located within Stone Mountain Park in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

At first glance you're happy you came. The restaurant is beautiful and very classy. Once you enter you immediately notice all the beautiful flower arrangements as well as the gorgeous ice sculptures. The restaurant has large windows reaching from ceiling to floor to allow guest to enjoy the view of the lake and forget about waiting because a host or hostess greets you immediately.

Every Mother's Day the Evergreen Waterside Restaurant offers a large spectacular buffet. The buffet includes seafood such as crab claws, steamed shrimp and oysters. Other items on the menu were prime rib, chicken with mango, pasta with portabella mushrooms and a variety of fresh vegetables. The restaurant also has a large salad and desert bar, and all of that would have been great if the food was actually good, but it wasn't.

The prime rib was completely bloody, but they had a chef on hand that would cook slices until they were well done which left it completely dry and rubbery. The pastas as well as the vegetables were luke warm at best and before you could make it back to your table the food was already cold. The crab claws were small and served cold and there was no butter in the entire restaurant. The bread was hard and served cold much like everything else, and there was nothing for small children to eat.

My kids as well as my nephews range from ages 6 to 16 and none of them wanted anything on the menu and the restaurant doesn't provide a child or young adult menu, at least on this day they didn't, so whatever you eat they have to eat, and needless to say, my 6 year old daughter was not thrilled to see pasta, prime rib and crab claws on her plate.

So, is this a place I would frequent? The answer is no. In fact I will probably never go back again, but in the restaurants defense I did eat there a few years back and I remember it being much better or maybe my taste were a lot worse, you decide.

The Waterside Restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also offer Sunday brunches and Friday night specialty buffets. The website list the prices at $8.00 and up which is more then reasonable and they accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. Reservations are encouraged. Phone: 770-465-3240
